Power supply hit in most parts of Berhampur

BERHAMPUR: Passengers of an OSRTC bus had a miraculous escape when the bus lost control and hit an electrical transformer on the National Highway in the city in the wee hours of Tuesday. However, three persons, including two women, were seriously injured. Power supply to most parts of the city was disrupted following the accident.

The bus was on its way to Gunupur from Cuttack when it lost control and hit an electricity transformer post on the side of the road near Sales Tax Square. Electricity cables were snapped and fell on the bus. Most of the passengers received electricity shocks and minor injuries. The injured were taken to the MKCG medical college hospital. Fire brigade and police rushed to the spot for rescue operation.

Following the accident electricity supply to most parts of the city was disrupted. Power supply to some areas could be restored by morning.

According to passengers in the bus stray cattle roaming on the highway at night led to this accident. The driver lost control while trying to save a group of cows lying in the middle of the road.
