Rubber traders' plea

Staff Reporter

KOTTAYAM: Rubber traders have submitted a memorandum to the Rubber Board against futures trading in natural rubber. According to small scale traders, their very existence has been questioned by the induced fluctuations in the indigenous market created by the unhealthy practices in the futures market.

The futures market, which was expected to bring down uncertainties in the market, was creating violent fluctuations to the benefit of a few, the memorandum said. The Rubber Board has called a meeting of all stakeholders to discuss the issue on Wednesday.
