THRISSUR: Thrissur Corporation's budget for 2007-2008 envisages revenue of Rs.201 crore and expenditure of Rs.187 crore. The budget was presented by Deputy Mayor M.K. Suryaprakash. An amount of Rs.49.28 crore has been earmarked for improving drinking water supply. A sum of Rs.29.97 has been allotted for improving drainage systems and streamlining waste management.
Shopping complex
The budget has set apart Rs.31.33 crore for road works, Rs.50 lakh for construction of a shopping complex and a building at the Main Bus Stand, Rs.5 crore for laying a new pipeline from Peechi, Rs.5 crore for building a new grocery in the Shakthan market, Rs.1 crore for developing an outer ring road, Rs.5 crore for construction of a new convention centre, Rs.1 crore for building a flyover between West and East Fort. An amount of Rs.1 crore has been earmarked for the Vanchikulam project. The State budget had allocated Rs.50 lakh for the project. Discussion on the budget will be held on Thursday.
