Nagercoil: The district administration has geared up the official machinery to check the sudden outbreak of chickenpox. According to sources, more than 500 persons were being affected with this disease, particularly in the rural areas. The Health Department has also opened a separate ward in order to provide treatment to the affected persons at Asaripallam Government Medical College Hospital. Steps had already been taken to provide treatment to more than 50 persons in Government hospitals. Health workers have been asked to create awareness on the spread of the disease among the people.
