DINDIGUL: Lakshmi Seva Sangam, a rural-based Siddha and Ayurveda Centre of Gandhigram Trust, has been awarded ISO 9000:2000 certification by Global Certification Services. The certification has been awarded in recognition of its manufacture of traditional Indian medicines - Ayurvedha and Siddha - in a systematic process, according to K. Shivakumar, Secretary of the Sangam. Founded in 1977 by Dr. T. Soundaram, the Sangam has been manufacturing 273 products with herbs and medicines, which were just 17 at the initial stage. Now, it has license to manufacture 450 products. With 134 employees, including 83 women and five disabled, the unit also planned to involve SHGs for purchasing raw materials and distributing its products.
