KARIMNAGAR: The Sircilla police registered a case against Telugu Desam Party (TD) and Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) leaders for obstructing work at the Mid-Manair Dam (MMD) across the SRSP flood flow canal at Cheerlavancha in Sircilla mandal on Tuesday. Sircilla Sub-Inspector K. Nagendra Chary said that a case under IPC 506 and Section 7 of the Criminal Amendment Act was booked. The police registered cases against ZPTC member K. Anthaiah, MPTC members K. Ravi and Narsaiah CESS Director and TRS leader K. Latchi Reddy and a few others. Land oustees have been obstructing the ongoing workin Cheerlavancha village demanding that the Government take up the project only after providing suitable compensation to them. They charged the Government with procuring 560 acres of land for the construction of the dam across the Manair on the proposed SRSP flood flow canal. The authorities had acquired the land for construction of dam site in Manwada, Cheerlavancha and Kandikatkur villages while the Government had announced a compensation of Rs.2.1 lakhs per acre to the oustees. Meanwhile, former TDP general secretary R. Venkat Rao has criticised party leaders for opposing the construction. He wanted the party to support the Government in the execution of the project .
