VIJAYAWADA: General Manager of the South Central Railway D.N. Mathur on Tuesday underlined the need for health and fitness awareness among railway employees, particularly those who were about to retire from their service. After inaugurating the Railway Institute's recreation club at Satyanarayanapuram here, Mr. Mathur said that regular physical exercise and meditation would keep people fit, both physically and mentally.
Cash reward
" Diverting our mind towards sports, games, reading or any other hobby will help us stay fit," he said, and announced a cash reward of Rs. 30,000 to the club. Officials of the Vijayawada division of the South Central Railway felicitated Mr. Mathur, who is going to retire from his services by this month end. Divisional Railway Manager S.K. Sharma said that Mr. Mathur made his mark in the development of SCR in general and the Vijayawada division in particular. Additional Divisional Railway Manager Sajjan Rao, Senior Divisional Commercial Manager B. Vijay Bhaskar and other officials felicitated Mr. Mathur. Earlier in the day, Mr. Mathur inaugurated post-operative ward in the railway hospital.
