Sri Lankan held with fake credit cards

CHENNAI
: Police arrested a Sri Lankan national in the city after he was found with over 25 fake international credit cards here on Monday.
According to the Central Crime Branch police, Sanjiv Kanth alias Sanjiv alias Nimal (31) of Jaffna was questioned by police in Indira Nagar, Adyar. He apparently made contradictory statements to police.
Inquiries revealed that he hailed from Jaffna and had fake credit cards with him, which were received from London. Based on his confession, police said he had withdrawn cash from many ATMs in the city and purchased jewels and other valuables.
They recovered two mobile phones, gold, two laptops, Rs 2,45,340 in cash and a two-wheeler. The value of the seized properties was Rs. 7 lakh, a press note said. A case under Section 420 (cheating) has been registered.
