8-year-old killed in accident

TAMBARAM : An eight-year-old boy died when a speeding mini lorry at Manapakkam on Mount-Poonamallee Road hit a scooter on Tuesday.

Earlier in the day, a 36-year-old man died after his motorcycle was hit by a speeding car at the same spot.

Kailashwara Devan was travelling with his mother, Manojini, on the scooter. On Tuesday morning, the mother was taking her son to school in St. Thomas Mount, when the accident happened. Kailash, who was injured critically, was rushed to a hospital nearby, where he died.
