Child development

CHENNAI : Satyananda Yoga Education Charitable Trust will conduct a free workshop on `secrets of child development' at Ramana Vidyalaya in Shozhanganallur on Sunday. Eminent educationists, psychologists and paediatricians will participate in the programme, which will begin at 9 a.m.

Study conference

A study group from Commonwealth countries, brought together by the Confederation of Indian Industry, visited Sankara Nethralaya last week. The delegation is here for a study conference on `working together for inclusive growth and development.' Sankara Nethralaya was chosen as a non-governmental organisation working to achieve inclusive growth and development. The delegates were from the U.K., Australia, West Indies, Canada, New Zealand, Malaysia, Ghana, Sri Lanka and India.

Medical camp

Admert Medical Centre will conduct a free `gastric' screening camp on Sunday for diagnosis of early oesophagus and stomach cancers for people over 40 years. Free endoscopy will also be offered to patients with significant risk factors. Entry for the first 50 people is free of cost.

Free dental camp

VV Dental Hospital in Anna Nagar conducted a free dental camp on Tuesday for inmates of the Goodwill Home for the Aged at Anna Nagar. A team of doctors screened more than 100 persons. Some were found to require extractions, fillings and other dental care.

Opportunities

Social Action for Value Education Trust, a welfare organisation, organised a seminar on economic growth opportunities for women and laws that protect them. About 100 women from self-help groups, panchayat heads, block development officials and legal experts participated in the meeting held at Kottur Athivakkam near Red Hills.
