Udupi: Union Minister of State for Labour Oscar Fernandes has said that efforts were on to upgrade the Byndoor railway station. Mr. Fernandes inspected the facilities at the railway station on Monday and held talks with members of the Byndoor Railway Horata Samiti. Byndoor MLA Gopal Poojary and working president of the samiti Venkatesh Kini told Mr. Fernandes that though the Railway Board had ordered for the stoppage of two express trains at Byndoor from March 15, the officials of Konkan Railway were not keen on implementing it. Mr. Fernandes spoke to Managing Director of Konkan Railway Corporation Ltd. K.K. Gokhale over telephone and directed him to take immediate steps to upgrade the station.
