Kalam to address European Parliament

NEW DELHI : President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam is addressing the European Parliament on April 25 in Strasbourg, parliamentary seat of Europe.

In a rare honour to India, the European Parliament recently invited Mr. Kalam to address its session. His visit to Strasbourg will be combined with a two-day tour of Greece, Rashtrapati Bhavan sources told The Hindu on Tuesday.

This is the first time the European Parliament has extended an invitation to an Indian President to address its session.

Mr. Kalam's visit to Strasbourg also coincides with the ongoing 50th anniversary celebrations of the European Union.
