New vocational courses necessary

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister for Health and Family Welfare P.K. Sreemathy has said efforts should be taken to make vocational education more attractive to the students by introducing new courses in association with the Department of Health.

She was speaking here after inaugurating a two-day seminar on `vocational education' organised by the Department of Vocational Higher Secondary Education (VHSE) in the city on Tuesday. The society is yet to come forward and appreciate the significance of vocational education. R.V.G. Menon, curriculum committee member, stressed the need for modernising traditional vocations such as hair cutting and laundering in order to make them more attractive.
