DYFI to take out Raj Bhavan march today

Traffic curbs in place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.


  • Agitation against `rising unemployment'
  • March to start from three points in city

    Thiruvananthapuram: The city police have imposed curbs on vehicular traffic in the Kowdiar, Vellayambalam, Museum, Asan Square and Palayam areas from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Wednesday in view of the Raj Bhavan march to be taken out by the DYFI.

    The march is part of a nation-wide agitation against `rising unemployment.'

    Vehicles coming to Thampanoor and East Fort from Nedumangad and Peroorkada will be routed through Oolampara, Sasthamangalam, Vellayambalam, Vazhuthacaud and Thycaud while those in the reverse direction will be diverted through Vazhuthacaud, Sasthamangalam and Peroorkada.

    Vehicles proceeding to Thampanoor from the National Highway and MC Road will be diverted through Paruthipara, Muttada, Ambalamukku, Sasthamangalam, Vellayambalam, Vazhuthaucaud and Thycaud.

    Vehicles starting from Thampanoor and bound for Kesavadasapuram and Ulloor will have to take the Bakery Junction - Underpass - Asan Square - PMG - Pattom route while those from East Fort will have to take the Statue, General Hospital, Pattoor, Nalumukku, Kannamoola, Medical College route.

    Vehicles bringing DYFI volunteers for the march will have to offload the men at designated points and park on the Eenchakkal bypass.

    A DYFI press note issued here on Tuesday stated that the march would start simultaneously from three points — the Asan Square, the road in front of the University College and the area in front of the Public Library.
