NEW DELHI:
A local court here has directed an inquiry against an Assistant Commissioner of Police
The officer was then the Station House Officer of the Tilak Nagar police station.
Metropolitan Magistrate Pooran Chand in his order said that L.N. Rao, now an ACP with the Delhi traffic police, had registered the FIR only in October while the incident was reported in August.
Even the medico-legal case had been registered on the day of the incident.
The court also directed that a copy of the order be sent to Police Commissioner K. K. Paul for taking necessary action against the erring officer.
An Assistant Sub-Inspector, Om Prakash, also earned the wrath of the court for inaction.
Exonerating the three accused -- Amar Nath, Raj Kumar and Ashok Kumar -- in the case of grievous hurt, the court observed that the delay by the prosecution in registering the FIR had led to their acquittal.
