Corner sites not for auction

Special Correspondent

BANGALORE: Large and Medium Industries Minister Katta Subramanya Naidu told the Legislative Council on Wednesday that the Government has decided to put an end to the practice of auctioning corner sites in its industrial estates. Replying to Congress member L. Hanumanthaiah during the Question Hour, the Minister explained that corner sites would henceforth be used for providing facilities such as petrol bunks and post offices.

The Minister reiterated that there was no vacant land in Bangalore that could be provided to industries. In all, the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board had acquired 38,274 acres in the State for industrial estates.
