Madikeri: As many as 4,950 students from Kodagu will appear for the II PU examination beginning in 13 centres across the district from Thursday. Girls outnumber boys with a strength of 2,619 as against 2,331 boys in the three streams of Arts, Commerce and Science. There are 3,022 students appearing in the Arts stream, 1,108 in Commerce and 820 in the Science. A vigilance squad, comprising the Deputy Director of Pre-University Education and the DDPI, has been constituted to check malpractice. Kodagu Deputy Commissioner Subodh Yadav has promulgated prohibitory orders in and around a 200-metre radius of the examination centres to enable smooth conduct of the exam. This would be in force from March 29 to April 16. Mr. Yadav has ordered closure of all photocopying and typing centres in those areas from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. (except holidays) till the end of the examination.
