Theatre society to honour three

NEW DELHI: The National Theatre Art Society has decided to honour three eminent personalities from the Capital in recognition of their outstanding contribution towards promotion of poetry and drama. The awards will be conferred on Apeejay Education Society chairman Satya Paul, industrialist-cum-poet Vinay Bharat Ram and dramatist Reoti Saran Sharma, according to Pran Sabharwal, former member of the Punjab State Cultural Affairs Advisory Board.

Speaking at an artists' congregation at Shri Ram Centre Complex here, Mr. Sabharwal also urged Delhiites to strengthen theatre and celebrate April 6 as International Punjabi Theatre Day.

New Member (Traffic) for Railway Board

NEW DELHI: Northern Railway General Manager Vinoo Narain Mathur on Wednesday took over as Member (Traffic) of the Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to the Union Government. Mr. Mathur took over from S.B. Ghosh Dastidar who has retired. Mr. Mathur will continue to hold additional charge as Northern Railway General Manager till further orders. He joined the Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS) in 1971 and has rich experience of working in different departments of Indian Railways. His specialisation includes Operations, Commercial, and Safety besides General Management.

Special cover on SSB released

NEW DELHI: Delhi's Chief Post Master General Raghav Lal released a special cover on Sashastra Seema Bal here on Wednesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State for Urban Development Ajay Maken commended the SSB for its role in nation-building and providing security along the Indo-Nepal and Indo-Bhutan borders.

Delhi festival

NEW DELHI: A three-day festival, "Meri Dilli Utsav", showcasing the cultural diversity and unique traditions of the Capital begins at Punjabi Bagh Stadium here on Friday. Organised by NNS, the highlights of the Utsav will be traditional Rajasthani folk dances, a food court, musical show and special shows for children, women and senior citizens.

Air Fair India

NEW DELHI: Habiart Foundation is hosting "Art Fair India: 2007" at Travancore House on Kasturba Gandhi Marg here from March 31 to April 5. The event will be attended by 13 organisations representing artist groups, art centres, non-profit organisations and prominent art galleries from the country, Pakistan and Bangladesh.
