Career specific specialisations is the institute's USP

CHENNAI: SMOT Business School, where the USP is career specific specialisations, was formally launched on Wednesday.

A memorandum of understanding between SMOT and the Canadian Association of Management Consultants (CAMC) was also signed.

The school will collaborate with professional bodies, research institutions and universities to offer recognised industry relevant diplomas and certificates.

The school, with a built-up space of 15,000 sq ft, is coming up on the Old Mahabalipuram Road at Perungudi. It is expected to be completed in three months.

Course fee

The first intake of 120 students for the 18-month programme will begin in September this year. The course fee is Rs.4.3 lakh.

The MoU will give SMOT students specialising in the consulting career vertical access to CAMC's flagship programme.

The CAMC expert pool will teach them and endorse the management consulting track offered at SMOT.

SMOT director R. Narasimhan said the courses offered by the School would be in line with industry requirements.

This would help the graduates and the employers, and thereby avoid the mismatch. It would offer career specific verticals such as financial consulting, project management, business analysis and business development.

Mr. Narasimhan said there were plans to establish a campus in north Chennai by the end of 2008, and expand to Hyderabad, Bangalore and Mumbai.
