New version of `gyanX' released

LIQWID KRYSTAL, an e-learning company that provides learning solutions, launched the new version of "gyanX" at the CMR Institute of Technology on Wednesday.

According to a press release, "gyanX version 2.0" offers a more versatile, fun-filled experience to its 1.5 lakh student subscribers from Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU). The first version only offered online learning to supplement the curriculum.

Anand Adkoli, chief executive officer and co-founder of Liqwid Krystal, said with the additional features, the scalability and performance of the online platform has improved.

Fest in nursing

The Department of Nursing, the Oxford Educational Institutions, has organised the first national fest in nursing — "Oxfo Nightingale 2007". A two-day symposium on "Beyond the millennium — evidence-based nursing" has been organised as part of the fest.

Over 1,500 students from nursing colleges throughout the country are participating in the fest.

Minister for Medical Education V.S. Acharya inaugurated the fest on Wednesday and stressed on the need for skill improvement and use of sophisticated equipment. He assured support to nurses fraternity.

On the occasion, Ramesh Raju, executive director, announced that a 200-bed capacity hospital would be set up at HSR Layout by the institution.

Manojavam 2007

Manojavam 2007, a two-day national level management fest, was organised by the Department of Management Studies, The Oxford Educational Institutions.

The inaugural function was presided by N.S. Ramaswamy, President and Director, CARTMAN. Mr. Ramaswamy said management was a force behind all civilisations. K.R. Mukunda, principal, The Oxford College of Business Management, spoke about "Manojavam" and its relevance to the present scenario.

The Government R.C. College of Commerce and Management organised a management fest recently. Wg. Cdr. Patrawalia, who was the chief guest, called upon the students to imbibe values and ethics and serve society. Uma Reddy, chief executive, Hi-tech Magnetics Ltd., said that to become good entrepreneurs it was important for students to develop communication and human resource skills. She asked them to set long-term goals.

Students from over 15 colleges participated in the fest. Deepashree, V. Kumuda, Syed Abdul Rehman and N. Karthik were felicitated by the college for having been selected for IBM during the campus recruitment.

RVCE wins award

The team from the R.V. College of Engineering, represented by Ankur Prasad, Abhas Sinha and Rohit Kamra, won the trophy at the second national level inter-university parliamentary debate competition hosted by Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Delhi.

The RVCE team met the National Law School of India University team at the finals and the topic was "The House would let the people of Kashmir decide". A nine-member panel of adjudicators voted in favour of RVCE. Last year, the RVCE team lost to IIT, Guwahati, in the finals. The adjudicators representing RVCE contingent in the tournament were Sneha Chowdhary, Pran Agarwal and Chandana Bhargav. Pran Agarwal won the Best Adjudicator Award.
