Confesses to having committed the heinous crime: Police

NEW DELHI: Twenty-two-year-old Vikram, who has been accused of criminally assaulting two four-year-old girls at Tilak Nagar here on Monday evening, was arrested by the West Delhi police at Maharana Pratap Inter-State Bus Terminus on Wednesday.

According to the police, Vikram, a tailor by profession, was arrested while he was trying to flee the Capital in the afternoon. The police had earlier set up four teams to look for him.

Vikram had lured four children, three of them girls, to his house from a nearby park on Monday evening and allegedly criminally assaulted two of them. He also made a vain attempt to criminally assault the third girl, the police said.

During interrogation, Vikram purportedly confessed to having committed the hideous crime. He told the police that he was to get married next month and wanted to test his potency. He had got engaged only this past week.

Denying reports that more than one person was involved in the crime, the police said Vikram alone had criminally assaulted the girls.

Meanwhile, the condition of the victims, admitted to Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Hospital, has shown improvement and they have been shifted out of the Intensive Care Unit.
