Indonesian officials take samples from chicken at a poultry market in Denpasar, Bali, Indonesia. JAKARTA: A 28-year old woman, who died on Wednesday in Jakarta, was confirmed to have been suffering from avian influenza, putting the death toll to 71 out of 91 cases, the country's Health Ministry said here. The woman fell sick last week and died at a hospital here. It was not clear whether she had contacts with fowls, said an official. The number of bird flu cases in Indonesia has increased recently after months of absence of new cases. The country has agreed to cooperate with the WHO by sharing its bid flu virus sample with it. Over 32 million families in Indonesia raise chickens in the backyard. Experts have warned the international community of the risks should Indonesia fail to prevent the dangerous H5N1 virus from spreading. Xinhua
