Andhra Bank enters final

HYDERABAD: Andhra Bank recorded a 13-run win over BDL in the semifinals of the `A' division (one-day) knock-out cricket tournament organised by the Hyderabad Cricket Association here.

Former Ranji opener and now member of Senior State Selection Committee, A. Nanda Kishore (53) was the top-scorer for the winner.

The scores: Andhra Bank 246 in 50 overs (A. Nanda Kishore 53, Ibrahim Khaleel 47) bt BDL 233 in 47.5 overs (Vishnu Vardhan 65).

Postal in last four

Andhra Pradesh Postal defeated HAL 25-14, 22-25, 25-13, 17-25, 15-8 in the quarterfinals of the MCH annual volleyball championship at the Victory Playground here. In another quarterfinal, Hyderabad Mayors put it across APSRTC 25-21, 25-16, 25-18.

Volleyball trials

The Andhra Pradesh Volleyball Association will organise selection trials for youth teams (men and women) on April 10 and 11 at the Lal Bahadur Stadium.

Interested should report at the venue with date of birth certificates and only those born on or after January 1, 1986, are eligible to take part.

Deloitte Challenger wins

Deloitte Challenger scored an eight-wicket win over Kanbay in the final of the second Challenger Trophy cricket tournament at the Lal Bahadur Stadium here.

Arjuna awardee, Mir Khasim Ali, gave away the prizes.

The scores: Kanbay 74 for nine lost to Deloitte Challenger 75 for two (Akhilesh 46 not out).

Applications invited

The Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh invites applications for nominations to the Dhyan Chand Award for Lifetime achievement in sports and games for 2007 from eligible candidates to be forwarded to the Government of India.

The last date for submission is April 30 and the prescribed pro-forma may be collected from the SAAP Office and further details can be had from Harish Mulay, Deputy Director (PR), Ph: 9849457461.

Krupakar shines

At Vijayawada, an all-round show by Peter Krupakar (53 and three for 10) helped Kurnool Blues defeat LVTG Physiotherapy College by 118 runs in the Adugalla Ramachandra Reddy memorial league-cum-knock-out cricket tournament at Kurnool on Thursday, according to information received here.

The scores: Kurnool Blues XI 224 for 9 in 30 overs (Narendra Reddy 54, Peter Krupakar 53) bt LVTG Physiotherapy College 106 in 24.1 overs.
