Planning by schools
Deputy Director of Public Instruction Thippeswamy told The Hindu that with regard to improving the quality of education in the district, each school would be preparing a four-year action plan and would have to adhere to it. Also, the Karnataka State Quality Assessment Organisation would conduct tests on the teaching methods being followed, and would attempt to identify shortcomings the present system, based on which suitable training would be imparted to teachers through the District Institute for Education and Training (DIET), Mr. Thippeswamy said.
Attendance
The action plan has also laid thrust on ensuring that children between six and 14 years attend school compulsorily. It proposes to open residential schools and tent schools, and introduce home education and the like for the 9,997 school dropouts in the district. Special programmes have also been chalked out to cater to persons with physical and visual disabilities.
