POOR FACILITIES: Students writing the PUC examination sitting on floor at the Government Junior College centre in Bijapur on Thursday.
BIJAPUR: The vigilance squad on Thursday debarred four PUC students, two in the city and one each in Chadcana and Nidagundi, for copying in examination. Meanwhile two supervisors were suspended on the charge of dereliction of duty. Meanwhile, over 200 students had to write the examination sitting on the floor at the Government Junior College centre here. As there were not enough rooms, they were made to sit in the open veranda.
Poor seating
It was similar to the poor seating arrangements in the just concluded SSLC examination, in which large number of students wrote answer papers sitting on the floor. Nearly 30,000 students appeared for the SSLC examination. Nearly 14,000 students are writing the PUC examination. When asked the reason for lack of proper seating arrangements although the number of students was less the Deputy Director of Public Instruction for PUC S.M. Kanbur said there were only 28 centres for PUC examination compared to 72 for SSLC examination. However, the lapse had come to his notice, and it would be set right in the forthcoming examinations, he told The Hindu.
