Mass copying at college, examination cancelled

Students indulged in malpractice with help from supervisor


  • Re-examination will be held after the pre-university course examination
  • Vigilance squad debars 11 students for copying

    GULBARGA: The Pre-University Board has cancelled examination of the pre-university course held in Dr. Ambedkar Pre University College in Rangampet of Surpur taluk in Gulbarga district following incidents of mass copying by the students with help from the staff including the supervisor of the examination centre.

    Based on the report from the Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey about mass copying and other malpractices in the examination centre at Rangampet, the board took a decision to cancel the examinations for that particular centre and hold re-examination at a later date. The re-examination would be held after the completion of the PUC examination on April 15. The dates for the re-examination would be announced later.

    Mr. Pandey said recommendations have been made to the board to take action against Dr. Ambedkar Pre University College, which had a history of violation of examination rules. .

    He said he had also recommended disciplinary action against the chief supervisor and other examination staff who had allowed the mass copying in the examination centre and the board has agreed to initiate action against the examination staff and the chief supervisor. The chief supervisor and other examination staff in the centre have been replaced for the next examination.

    Students debarred

    Mr. Pandey said more than 400 students had appeared for their examination in the Dr. Ambedkar Pre University College at Rangampet. Meanwhile, 11 students were debarred and four others were expelled from the examination in the district for mass copying and other malpractices.

    The vigilance squad constituted by the Pre-University Board during its surprise inspection in different examination centres in the district found incidents of mass copying in one of the examination centres and debarred 11 students. Deputy Commissioner Pankajkumar Pandey and Chief Executive Officer of the Zilla Panchayat P.C. Jaffer also conducted surprise inspections of examination centres in the district.

    The final year PUC examinations began in the district under tight security with police personnel manning all the 34 examination centres preventing people from going anywhere near these centres. rohibitory orders under section 144 Cr PC have been clamped near the examination centres.
