BSES cautions power consumers

NEW DELHI: Following complaints about impostors posing as BSES officials, the power distribution company has cautioned consumers to guard against such unscrupulous elements.

BSES officials said they had been receiving complaints about gangs of impostors conning customers.

They harass customers on the pretext of booking them for tampered meters or power theft and let them off in return for money. BSES has made it clear that all enforcement related payments -- fines and penalties -- are to be made only at designated BSES offices. Customers can alert the nearest BSES office or inform the police in case they notice anything suspicious.

Gokulanandaji in a critical condition

NEW DELHI: Swami Gokulanandaji, Secretary of the Delhi centre of Ramakrishna Mission, is in a critical condition at Sir Ganga Ram Hospital here.

According to a spokesperson of the Mission, Swami Gokulanandaji had a cerebral stroke on the morning of March 20.

He was rushed to hospital and operated upon.

Since then, he has been in coma.

Sales Tax Bar Association turns 50

NEW DELHI: A two-day "Swaran Jayanti Mahotsava" is being organised by the Delhi Sales Tax Bar Association here beginning Friday to mark 50 years of its registration under the Societies Registration Act.

Justice D. K. Jain of the Supreme Court, Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Vijender Jain, Delhi High Court Judges J. M. Malik and Kailash Gambhir and former Bar Association presidents will be felicitated at the function.

The Bar Association has also organised seminars, computer education programmes and health check-up camps for its members in the run-up to the golden jubilee.

Congress workers protest

NEW DELHI: A number of Congress workers led by Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Ram Babu Sharma demonstrated at Jantar Mantar here on Thursday protesting against "false rumours" being spread about the Master Plan for Delhi-2021 by the BJP.

Describing the Master Plan-2021 as a "historical achievement", Mr. Sharma said it would benefit the city's business community. With the regularisation of 1,500 unauthorised colonies, more than 40 lakh people would benefit, he added.
