CHANDIGARH: CPI national secretary D. Raja on Thursday urged the youth to challenge the existing world order and fight against "advancement of imperialist forces led by the US". Inaugurating the 13th National Conference of the All India Youth Federation (AIYF) at Sirsa, he alleged that the world was moving under doctrines dictated by the US which was trying to exert its hegemony in political, economic and social spheres. The forces challenging the US were being run down as rogue states and the war in Afganistan and Iraq was part of this hidden agenda. "The American aggression in Iraq was to extract oil and the propaganda of Iraq possessing weapons of mass destruction was a blatant lie which was later admitted by the American Government,'' he added. Mr. Raja said the Left was opposed to any form of nuclear proliferation including nuclear tests by both DPR Korea and India. He said it was unfortunate that the UPA Government in New Delhi was dancing to the tunes of the US and India's foreign policy was tilting towards US interests. The much-hyped India-US nuclear deal was against national interests and sovereignty, he added. "The UPA Government was deviating from the Common Minimum Programme and India's vote against Iran in IAEA reflected a pro-American tilt." Urging the Indian youth to mobilise against the neo-economic policies of the Union Government, he said "the State was acting as a middleman in the name of Special Economic Zones'' "There should be a balanced approach between industrialization and agriculture development to sustain the economy," he added.
