Rs. 400-crore advance for Civil Supplies Corporation

CHENNAI:
The State Government has sanctioned Rs. 400 crore as "special ways and means advance" to the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation for purchasing paddy from farmers, considering the record production and procurement.
Presenting the final supplementary estimates for 2006-07, Finance Minister K. Anbazhagan said of the supplementary demands for Rs. 3,973.59 crore, Rs. 1,118 crore was in the revenue account, Rs. 669.56 crore in the capital account and the balance Rs. 2,186.03 crore in the loan account.
Among the important schemes that had found a place in the supplementary estimates were waiver of agricultural loans, maintenance of panchayat and panchayat union roads and construction of tenements for affected slum families,he said.
