Karunanidhi terms order shocking

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi on Thursday described "shocking" the Supreme Court's interim stay on 27 per cent reservation for Other Backward Classes in institutions of higher education.

Scope for amendment

Asked if there was scope for an amendment to legislation, Mr. Karunanidhi said he could not speak on that now.

Joint stand needed

Talking to presspersons at the end of the Assembly sitting, he said political parties and social organisations that believed in reservation should come together, discuss the issue and decide on what action needed to be taken.
