HYDERABAD: A mob damaged two four-wheelers, one belonging to the police, while demonstrating in front of Madhapur police station accusing its Inspector S. Jayaram of high-handed behaviour on Thursday. Four demonstrators, including former councillor of Serilingampally municipality Hamid Patel, were taken into custody in connection with the incident. A special team of Cyberabad police, assisted by Madhapur police, went to Mazidbanda locality to gather details about a disputed plot admeasuring 270 square yards. Rajendranagar ACP Mahipal Reddy said one Rama Devi owned the land and gave General Power of Attorney to a person Rafeeq. But Mr. Patel too had been claiming rights over the same plot. The court, however, gave verdict in favour of Mr. Rafeeq. Patel's son Fazal tried to prevent the police parties that went to the spot to measure the land as part of an inquiry but was sent away. Some time later, Patel and his 50-odd supporters drove in a tipper and staged a sit-in in front of the police station alleged that Mr. Jayaram assaulted Fazal. The mob went berserk and damaged two four-wheelers by breaking the window glasses.
