Angry mob sets fire to lorry after woman's death at Sunkadakatte

BANGALORE: A mob set on fire a sand-laden lorry that knocked down a motorcycle, killing a woman, on Magadi Road on Thursday afternoon.

The police said that around 12.30 p.m., the lorry rammed the motorcycle on which Shivakumaraiah and his wife Gowramma were riding on Magadi Road, off Sunkadakatte. After Gowramma (35) fell on the road, the lorry ran over her, killing her on the spot. Shivakumaraiah, a factory employee and a resident of Bhuvaneshwarinagar, suffered minor injuries. Enraged by the death, passers-by set the lorry on fire before police dispersed them. The lorry was partially gutted before a fire tender arrived.
