Focus on disaster management

NEW DELHI: Critical subject areas such as food chain and emergency medicines supply were discussed at an international disaster management conference at Pragati Maidan here this past week.

It was inaugurated by Vinod Chandra Menon of the National Disaster Management Authority.

Officials of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies spoke about their preparedness for disaster management and gave details about their vendor management strategies.

Speedy relief

Organisers Responsenet and Omaxe Foundation brought together a host of stakeholders and disaster professionals who will continue to interact on an online alert wire system that would integrate telecommunications as a critical player for speedy relief during disasters.
