Religion
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), was born in 570 AD and this historic occasion is celebrated by the Muslims the world over as Meelad-un-Nabi. Not much is known about the religious practices of the Prophet (pbuh) except that he had never worshipped idols. But the Makkans of Arabia possessed the one-God notion and in the post-Islamic era, they had preserved the rite to pilgrimage to the House of One God, the Ka'bah, set up under divine inspiration by Abraham (AS) About the year 605 AD, the draperies on the outer wall of Ka'bah caught fire and the building was affected. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh), who was known by the appellation Al-Amin (the Honest), after arbitration installed the stone Hajr-e-Aswad, in a proper place. From this moment Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) became more absorbed in meditation and retired in the solitude of Ghar-e-Hira or "Cave of Research". When Hazrath Muhammad (pbuh) was forty years old, on one night towards the end of the month of Ramazan, Angel Gabriel brought the message of Allah. "Read: and thy Lord is the most Bounteous" (Koran 96:5) and this continued all through his life since the Koran had its revelation periodically and in fragments as and when occasion arose. The Prophet's (pbuh) lasting miracle is the Koran, a monumental testimony to his prophethood. The Holy Prophet (pbuh) commenced preaching the tenets of Islam secretly, first amongst his intimate friends, and later among the members of his own tribe and thereafter publicly. He insisted on the belief in the One Transcendent Allah and the Last Day of Judgment, prescribed fasting during the month of Ramazan, performance of prayers and Haj and payment of Zakath. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is a role model to the entire humanity. The Prophet (pbuh) was a phenomenon, a fountainhead of knowledge and wisdom. The deep expressive voice and magnetic eyes that pierced into the soul left people ever in search of the elusive spark of ecstatic fulfilment.
