MUMBAI:
The rupee rebounded against the U.S. currency and ended at 43.45/46 a dollar on Friday, as banks were forced to unload dollar positions to tide over a fresh bout of liquidity squeeze in the banking system amid absence of the central bank's intervention.
In continued active trade on the interbank foreign exchange market at the year end, the local currency gained 29 paise after moving widely in a range of 43.6450 and 43.4500. On Thursday, the rupee had suffered a 1.7 per cent fall, the worst one-day dip in 11 years to close at 43.74/76 per dollar.
