Tie-up with U.S. on environmental protection

Aims at roping in 500 companies for voluntary efforts for eco-protection

HYDERABAD: The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the United States Environment Protection Agency (USEPA) on Friday announced a strategic agreement as part of a global initiative for environmental protection.

The agreement was signed here on Friday by CII Chairman G. Vivekanand and USEPA administrator Stephen L. Johnson. The US delegation went around the Godrej-CII Green Business Centre in Madhapur here and praised its energy-efficient initiatives.

Mr. Johnson said over 100 corporates had teamed up in the Climate Leaders Programme being run in the US to reduce Green House Gas emissions.
