Kadapa airport to be developed

State to provide land, free power and water for five years
|
HYDERABAD:
The State Government and the Airports Authority of India (AAI) entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) on Friday for developing the existing airports at Kadapa and Warangal.
The MoUs were signed by AAI Chairman K. Ramalingam and Principal Secretary, Infrastructure & Investment Department, K. V. Rao in the presence of Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy and others.
Under the agreement, the Government will hand over the required land for the development of the two airports. It will also provide free electricity and water, initially for a period of five years, as also security for the aerodromes. On its part, the AAI will bear the capital expenditure on the development, operation and maintenance of the airports.
The MoU envisages development of facilities to handle ATR-42 and ATR-72 type of aircraft at Kadapa as well as Warangal.
