ANANTAPUR: A devotee of Satya Saibaba and a member of Satya Sai Sevadal from Kerala, Ratish Chandra (27), allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in room in a lodging here. The incident came to light on Thursday evening. According to the police, Ratish came to Puttaparthi on March 27 and was staying in a lodge near the police station. He went for `darshan' on Wednesday evening and did not come out of his room throughout the day on Thursday Suspecting something wrong, the hotel staff alerted the police who broke open the door. They found Ratish hanging to a hook in the roof to which the ceiling fan was fixed. The body was taken to the Government hospital at Penukonda for post mortem. Ratish was a native of Alappuzha district in Kerala and a paper was found in his pocket on which telephone numbers of his family members were written. The police informed the bereaved family. Ratish was a frequent visitor to Puttaparthi, the police said.
