CHIRALA: Police arrested a 17-year-old boy for allegedly killing his cousin after attempting to rape her near Chirala on Marach 23. Police could thus resolve the mystery shrouding the murder of the girl. They also set at rest rumours doing rounds in the town for the last one week that some psycho was kidnapping and killing children which caused panic among people. Speaking to newspersons here today, Superintendent of Police Vineet Brijlal asked the people not to believe rumours. Later, the accused Sambasiva Rao, explained his harrowing experience after killing his cousin. The accused and the victim lived in opposite houses here. He said that he gave Rs 2 to the girl to buy sweatmeats and lured her to go with him. He took her to the eucalyptus plantations near Potti Subbaiahpalem. He tried to rape her but in vain. When the attempt failed, he pleaded with her not to inform her parents about his escapade. As she refused to oblige him, he decided to kill her. He strangled her to death and left the scene after burying the body in the sand.
Harrowing experience
He underwent harrowing experience for the next three days. He spent sleepless nights and screamed on remembering his heinous crime. Unable to contain himself, he took one of his friends to the scene on some mission and gave him clues that there was a body. Word soon spread in the village and police found out that it was the body of the missing girl.
