JAIPUR: The first unit of the 330 MW gas-based thermal power plant in Rajasthan's Dholpur has been synchronised for commercial production. The unit, having a capacity of 110 MW and completed in a record period of 17 months, has been also connected to the State power grid. The Chairman and Managing Director of Rajasthan Vidyut Utpadan Nigam (RVUN), N.S. Choudhary, who was present at the plant site during the synchronisation on Thursday, said the remaining two units of the plant, being built at cost of Rs.1155 crore, would be ready by August. The second unit would be synchronised by May and the third by August.
Generation
"All the three units would be fully operational from August and will be in a position to generate 75 lakh units of power daily," said Mr. Choudhary. He claimed that completion of the first unit in 17 months was a record for any gas-based plant as the previous plant of the kind in Dhuvran, Gujarat, was completed in 20 months. Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL) carried out the supply and installation of equipment for the plant. Messrs Jia Energy Systems of Chennai executed the work on the balance of plant. The plant will get the gas supply from ONGC, which would be delivered, through the HBJ pipeline of GAIL India. The work on a new pipeline from Ibrahimpur to Dholpur has been completed.
