38 lakh tonnes of sugar for free sale

NEW DELHI: The Centre has released 38 lakh tonnes of sugar to mills for free sale during April-June.

For April, the release is 12 lakh tonnes.

Additional release

In addition, 1.77 lakh tonnes has been released under levy for distribution under the Public Distribution System.

The total quantity of sugar available for consumption for April is 13.77 lakh tonnes.

Extension

The Government has also decided to extend the validity period for the March non-levy quota up to April 15, enabling sugar mills to sell the unsold quantity during the extended period.
