26 commercial properties targeted

NEW DELHI: Municipal Corporation of Delhi squads on Friday targeted 26 illegal commercial establishments during their ongoing sealing drive against shops and businesses not covered under the new Master Plan.

The shops sealed were illegally operating from the basement and other floors except the ground floor on roads falling under the mixed land use category. Besides a couple of beauty parlours, shops dealing in computer peripherals and garments stores and some offices were sealed.

In Civil Lines Zone, a dozen illegal commercial establishments were targeted on Bardhan Marg, while 14 shops were sealed in South Zone -- 11 on Geetanjali Road and three in Krishna Nagar.

The sealing drive remained peaceful.

Since Wednesday when the drive was resumed, only 127 illegal commercial establishments have been targeted. The MCD has failed to step up the drive as they do not have proper information about commercial activities being carried out on roads and areas where they are carrying out the sealing drive.
