NEW DELHI: Two persons have been arrested by the Crime Branch of the Delhi police for allegedly selling rice meant for the mid-day meal scheme for children in the open market. The police had received information that several non-government organisations and service providers were selling in the open market rice meant for students of Delhi Government's Sarvodaya Schools. Acting on the information, the police arrested Naveen Kumar at Narela earlier this week when two trucks with 360 bags of rice were being unloaded at his godown. The rice was brought from the FCI and gate passes issued by it for transportation of the food grains to the kitchens of the NGOs were recovered from the truck drivers, the police said. The police later arrested Raj Kumar for allegedly purchasing the food grains from NGOs and service providers and sold them to Naveen. Raids have been conducted at the offices of Jan Sewak Associates, Shade India Society and Bal Bhoj .
