SCHOLASTIC ATTIRE: Children of Devagiri CMI kindergarten at the convocation ceremony.
KOZHIKODE : When 68 children who just completed their two years of kindergarten education stood wearing their caps for the convocation ceremony, they had little idea of what a convocation ceremony would be. But their curiosity definitely made the ceremony, conducted in the true spirit of a convocation function, a memorable one. It was a day to remember for the 68 students of the kindergarten of the Devagiri CMI Public School, Kozhikode. They marched in the convocation procession and there was lighting the lamp ceremony. There was reading from the scriptures, the `Bible Reflection' by John Mannarathara, Principal, Devagiri CMI Public School, and from the Upanishad. The moment came when the students received their `Kindergarten Graduation Certificate' from chief guest Aysha Guharaj, former Principal of the Kozhikode Medical College. Their parents were present on the occasion to see their children graduate from the kindergarten. Ms. Guharaj said the overall performance of the student lie not only in the hands of the school but also in the parents who should also shoulder the same responsibility. She asked the children to utilise this opportunity and make the school proud. Fr. Mannarathara said the convocation ceremony was a moment for the children to thank God, teachers, parents, relatives and friends. He said the cap they were wearing was a symbol of accomplishment they had achieved and official recognition that the school was giving them. Milly D'Souza, headmistress, Devagiri CMI kindergarten, proposed a vote of thanks.
