STERN MESSAGE: Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa inaugurating the State-level conference of Veerashaiva Lingayat employees in Hassan on Saturday.
HASSAN: Government employees should work with honesty and integrity and should adopt Basaveshwara's principle of "Kayakave kailasa" (work is worship) and should remember that in a democracy, people were the masters. He was inaugurating the fourth State conference of Veerashaiva Lingayat Naukarara Sammelan in Hassan on Saturday. He advised employees to introspect themselves and respond to the needs of the people. "We at the Government had conceded their demand by implementing the Fifth Pay Commission recommendation despite the State reeling under drought. Understand the problem of the people." The Deputy Chief Minister said arrack and lottery had thrown the people to the streets. With the State Government imposing a ban, it was up to the officials to implement it. He said Veerashaiva community was the largest in the State and it should see to it that it brought other communities also together. He lauded Veerashaivas for their contribution to the field of education and justified his action of releasing funds in the Budget for religious maths. He added that in the next Budget, he would allot Rs. 100 crore to maths. He wanted more mass marriages to be conducted so that marriages would become simple. Minister for Public Works and Energy H.D. Revanna spoke. Sanghathan's State president A.M.R. Kotraiah, and Hassan MLA H.S. Prakash were present. Earlier, a colourful procession was taken out in Hassan.
