HASSAN: Transfers should not become a business and this year there will be minimum transfers or no transfers, Deputy Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa said here on Saturday. He told presspersons that he would discuss with Chief Minister on minimising transfers. There would be no general transfer this year. Mr. Yediyurappa was here to inaugurate Karnataka Rajya Veerashaiva Lingayat Naukarara Naalkane Rajya Mattada Sammelana. About the violation of language policy by private schools, he said he would discuss the matter with Minister for Primary and Secondary Education to reconsider the decision of regularising the schools by collecting a fine of Rs. 1 lakh. It was felt that if collecting fine was allowed, then the schools would collect the same from parents. Chairman's election Mr. Yediyurappa said he would discuss with Chief Minister on fielding consensus candidate (from the BJP and the Janata Dal-Secular) to the post of Legislative Council chairman for which would be held on April 5. When his attention was drawn to the fact that the ruling coalition did not enjoy majority in the Council, he said it did not matter. Mr. Yediyurappa made it clear that the BJP was ready for seat adjustment for local body election with any party other than the Congress. Local units of the party would take the decision. About the JD(S) president H.D. Deve Gowda's statement that there would be no truck with the BJP in the local body election, Mr. Yediyurappa it was a political statement. "In the Chamundeswari by-election, we made alliance with the JD (S) and supported the JD (S) candidate," he added. On the allegation of the former Chief Minister N. Dharam Singh that the Budget presented by him lacked farsightedness, Mr. Yediyurappa said the Congress only raised slogan "Garibi Hatao", but did nothing. Mr. Yediyurappa justified the sops on Friday on the floor of the Legislative Assembly. On wheat and rice scandal in Hassan district, Mr. Yediyurappa said the district in-charge minister would look into it. Minister for Energy H.D. Revanna and BJP Hassan district unit president Navile Appanna were present.
