Tollywood advances release of films

India's quick exit from the World Cup changes plans

HYDERABAD: India's ouster from the World Cup has galvanised the Telugu film industry into action. Filmmakers, who had postponed the release of their films this summer owing to the Caribbean cricket carnival, are advancing the release dates again following the team's early exit.

Hardcore cricket fan Venkatesh would be leading from the front in the revival drama with his `Aaduvaari Maatalaku Ardhaale Verule'.

The film originally was to have been released in April, but the date was pushed to May owing to the cricket fever sweeping the State. It is now rescheduled for April 27 instead of May 9.

The film's audio was released at a function in Rama Naidu studios here on Wednesday. Selvaraghavan of `7G Bindavan Colony' directs the film while Trisha plays the female lead and Yuvan Shankar Raja scores the music.

The much-awaited Rajanikanth starrer `Sivaji' directed by Shankar, whose shooting and even the release date have been kept a closely guarded secret, is also being reportedly released in April. Telugu film producer Bellamkonda Suresh bought the rights of its dubbed Telugu version for an undisclosed sum.

Rumours were rife about the film being released only after the World Cup, but now industry watchers say the official release date in Telugu is April 12.

The prestigious AVM production house produces the film, which has developed an unprecedented craze thanks to the Rajanikanth's immense popularity in Andhra Pradesh.

Produced by `Dil' Raju after the stupendous success of `Bommarillu' and directed by debutant Paidipalli Vamsee, Prabhas-starrer `Munna' is slated for release on April 5. Ravi Teja's `Dubai Seenu' directed by Seenu Vytla will also hit the marquee late April or first week of May. The film reportedly has J.D. Chakravarthi playing the villain!

Naresh's `Attili Sattibabu LKG', Ali's yet another solo hero effort `Gundammagari Manavadu' and Kannada actor Upendra's direct Telugu film, `Toss' with Raja and Priyamani are the other films being released in April.
