PROCESSION: The body of Syed Shaha Muhammad Hussaini being brought in an ambulance to his ancestral house in Khwaja Banda Nawaz Dargah in Gulbarga city for burial on Saturday.
GULBARGA: Thousands of people cutting across religious barriers on Saturday paid their respects well-known educationist and Sajjada Nasheen of the venerable Khwaja Banda Nawaz Dargah Syed Shaha Muhammad Hussaini who died at the age of 84 at a private hospital in Hyderabad after a prolonged illness on Friday. The body of Hussaini was brought from Hyderabad by road. The cortege was stopped in almost all villages by people who wanted to pay their last respects. Gulbarga city observed an undeclared bandh with business establishments and shops remained closed as a mark of respect. The body arrived in Gulbarga city in the evening in a huge procession and was kept for public viewing for about an hour before it was taken to the Dargah for internment. Minister of State for Agriculture Marketing Sharanabasappa Dharshanapur, Animal Husbandry Minister Revunaik Belamgi, Gulbarga MP Iqbal Ahmed Saradgi, head of the Korisiddeshwar Math Sri Totendra Shivacharya condoled his death.
