Three students drowned in sea

KANCHEEPURAM : Three students of a private engineering college near Madurai were drowned while swimming in the sea off the Mamallapuram coast on Friday.

According to police, the 19-year-old students, Hariharan of Tirumangalam, Ajay Shantha Roopan of Tirumangalam, and Kathiresan of Ismailpuram came to Chennai two days ago along with 58 others, as part of an industrial tour. On their way back to Madurai, they visited a factory at Tiruporur and came to Mamallapuram for lunch. Of them 30 went for a swim. Three of them were found missing. However, their bodies were later washed ashore.
