Council approves budget

BERHAMPUR: The Berhampur Municipal council passed the budget for the next financial year at a special meeting on Saturday. The surplus budget would be sent to the State government for approval.

Chairperson of the municipality Sulochana Swain said that the municipality received Rs. 6.9 crores from the Centre under the Urban Infrastructure Development for Small and Medium Towns scheme. As per the budget, the municipality would have an expenditure of over Rs. 36.49 crores. Its income would be over Rs. 37.79 crores. The municipality would generate over Rs. 3.83 crores from its own resources while the rest would be Central and State grants.
